Instructions
1. Take paper and draw a 4"x5" grid rectangle using a ruler just like the one in the picture to the right. Once your rectangle is completed draw a mitten using the grids to match the mitten in the picture. (Picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.) Once mitten is drawn and cut out, you have your pattern.
2. Take sheet of felt. (Can make 3 mittens out of one sheet) Across long edge of felt trace pattern mitten with chalk 3 times making sure cuff of mitten is placed right at the edge. Cut down the middle of felt close to the tops of the mittens but not touching chalk markings.
3. Take the half with the 3 mittens(so you can see them) and place it over the blank half lining up the edges so they are even. Pin the two pieces of felt together. I use 3 pins inside each mitten leaving enough room for sewing.
4. Now that the two pieces of felt are securely pinned together take pinking shears and cut around the chalk outline of each mitten.
5. When mittens are all cut out they can be sewn together using an 1/8 of an inch seam allowance insuring cuff part is not sewn as the fork and knife have to fit in there.
6. Once sewn mittens can be decorated. Take ribbon, make a bow and hot glue it to center of mitten. Under bow glue on a pine cone, bell or decoration of choice.
Have fun making these and enjoy your Christmas guests commenting on how great they are!
